Blog Entry # 5.5- issue research

1.Are you working alone or in a group? If you are working in a group, who are your group member(s)?
I am working alone.

2.What social issue have you been assigned?
I have been assigned childhood asthma.

3.In order to develop an effective PSA you must feel a personal connection to the social issue that you are addressing. What does this social issue mean to you?
This social issue means a lot to me. My niece has asthma and I see how much she suffers to do things. Every time she has an asthma attack it kills me to see her not being able to breath.

4.What group(s) is/are affected by your assigned social issue?
The children are of course the first ones to get affected by this, but so are the parents. Each mom and dad that has to see the kids suffering like that.

5.What potential negative impact can this issue have?
This issue affects the children life. A child with asthmas can no longer have a normal life. This child now has to watch what they eat, can play like normal kids do and has many complication through out there childhood life.

6.What research (statistics) can you use to support your argument that this is a social issue that needs to be addressed?
We can use the statistics of children who have asthma witch is 7.0 million and a percent of 9.4.

EPA helps this social issue in many issues. they help the nation's environmental science, research, education and assessment efforts. EPA works with other federal agencies, state and local governments.

8.What steps can be taken to address this issue? (List at least three steps that can be taken.)
a. Make this seem like a real big issue. Witch its is and address it in a proper way.
b. Help out making special events.
c. Making sure parent know what steps to take if they do have a child that has asthma and knowing whats proper to do in case of anything.
